Quick Memory Moment:
So I was 14 years old a freshman at Fashion Industries High School and was the only student attending a community sewing class. The instructor was a 6o(?) year old afrocentric theologist who would educate me through the night about how our “indigenous” people were all birthed from the motherland. She was the first person to introduce me to Ankara fabric as we would discuss history while cutting/sewing African baby dresses.

So this pattern called for the cuffs and hem band to be gathered with elastic. I took those pattern pieces, cut/sew a heavy weight knit fabric the measurement of the jacket’s hem and sleeve hem. As for the lining, I definitly had to mix prints as soon as I went to the stash and eyed this navy white tribal print.
